What is Solar Energy and how does it work?
Solar energy is
a source of energy that comes from the electromagnetic radiation that the Sun
gives off. In this case, renewable energy comes from the Sun, which is a source

about a thermo-solar plant, which is also called a solar thermal power plant.

it. In these places, the temperature can reach more than 500 degrees Celsius.
They turn the heat into electricity that is used to run the regular electricity
grid. It's possible for them to provide a lot of land with electricity.
Furthermore, modern technology allows heat to be stored in a very
cost-effective way, with the ability to later turn it into electricity as
needed, which allows production to be controlled.

Photovoltaic (PV) energy from the sun
The direct
generation of electricity from solar radiation is called photovoltaic solar
energy, which is not the same as solar thermal energy. In order to do this, you
need to put up photovoltaic solar panels. These panels are made up of silicon
cells that convert the sun's light and heat into electricity. They can be used
bothin buildings and homes and at the larger scale of photovoltaic plants, which
are large-scale installations that make electricity.

Perc solar cells: What are
they?
It is possible
to make solar cells more efficient by capturing as many photons as possible
without changing how a solar cell works. This is called PERC technology.In
traditional crystalline silicon solar cells, electricity is made when photons
hit a layer of silicon, knocking off electrons that are then sent through a
wire. Most of the photons that come into modern monocrystalline silicon solar
cells are turned into electricity, but some photons pass through the silicon
material and don't make any electrons.
Unconverted
photons can hit the aluminium back and be turned into heat, which means that
when these cells are used in a solar module they will be less efficient. A few
photons also make electrons excited, but they don't go through the cell's
wiring, so there is no electricity.
Monocrystalline
silicon cells are used to make PERC solar cells. A passivating layer is added
to the back of a cell to reflect light through the silicon layer. Chemicals or
lasers can then be used to micro-etch the cells in order for the next contacts
to reach them. This breaks through the extra layer. In order to keep the solar
cell from getting hot, a dielectric layer is put on top of the first two layers
and then the third layer is added.
