What is Solar Energy and how does it work?

Perc solar cells: What are they?

 

It is possible to make solar cells more efficient by capturing as many photons as possible without changing how a solar cell works. Monocrystalline silicon cells are used to make PERC solar cells. A passivating layer is added to the back of a cell to reflect light through the silicon layer. Chemicals or lasers can then be used to micro-etch the cells in order for the next contacts to reach them. This breaks through the extra layer. In order to keep the solar cell from getting hot, a dielectric layer is put on top of the first two layers and then the third layer is added.
