Linksys WiFi range extender eliminates dead spots and provides you a powerful, high-speed WiFi connection to access even in the most remote areas of your home. Yes, that’s right! I also have a Linksys extender and trust me, I have experienced a boost in my WiFi connection. But, just purchasing the extender is not enough. You have to set it up. And, yes, Linksys extender setup process can be a daunting task for newbies. But, as you are on this post, you will not remain a newbie at all. Here, I am going to share my personal experience with you that what I did to set up Linksys extender. So, without much delay, scroll down and know how to setup linksys extender.

Linksys Extender Setup

Here are the instructions to configure Linksys extender:

The first thing that I did after purchasing the extender is that I unboxed it and kept it aside.

Now, you might be thinking that why I kept it aside, right? Well, I searched for a wall socket near to my existing router. But, I didn’t find the socket. So, I used an extension! I plugged in my devices (router and extender) close to each other and connected them using an Ethernet cable.

Note: This process is temporary. After the Linksys extender setup process, you can choose a location of your choice to plugin your devices. But, do not keep them too close or too far from each other. The distance between the two should be 40-50 feet.

After that, I waited for a longer time than expected for the LEDs on my Linksys extender to get stable. And, when I saw the stable lights on my range extender, I turned on my laptop, and launched Google Chrome.

Note: If you have a desktop, then you can use it instead. Apart from this, you can open any web browser of your choice.

Then, head over to the browser’s address bar and enter extender.linksys.com.

Wait! Before I provide you further Linksys extender setup instructions, I want to share some important points with you, may I?

Important Points to Remember

Everything went ok, but I was continuously experiencing extender.linksys.com not working issue. I tried everything to fix it, but nothing worked. I explored many websites on Google to fix the issue, but I found nothing. Then, what I did:

I updated the software on my laptop. Yes, you read it right! This is one of the most important steps.

Then, I updated the Google Chrome as well. Why? Because extender.linksys.com was not working on it. And, after that, it started working.

Again, after Linksys extender setup, when I was about to change its default settings using extender.linksys.com, it gave me the same issue. You know why was it happening? Because of typing errors. I don’t want this to happen with you, so better you copy the URL from here and paste it in the address bar field.

But, when I decided to configure my extender as an access point, again extender.linksys.com was not working. Alas! I was pissed off! Then, I analyzed that for Linksys access point setup, I was entering the web address in the search bar field and working on it with loaded browsing history.

Bonus tip: If you want to configure your Linksys extender as an access point mode, then you can also use 192.168.1.245 instead of the web address.

I am concerned for you. I was at your place once. So, I don’t want that you experience the same things and that is why I have shared the important points with you. And, in accordance to the above-mentioned important points, you will surely not get any issue while configuring your Linksys extender or setting it up as an access point mode.

The Ball is in Your Court!

Now, coming back to the actual Linksys extender setup process, once the web address, extender.linksys.com started working, you can now use the default extender’s login credentials to reach the Linksys WiFi setup page. Once you are there, you can follow the on-screen instructions and configure your Linksys device as a professional.

Congrats! You are not a newbie anymore! But, before I end this article, there is something that I need to share. Look, I replaced my existing router with Linksys because the older one was affecting the performance of my Linksys extender. My existing device was not up to the mark. If you find that your existing router is not worthy anymore, you can replace it. First, you need to configure it using the default Linksys router login details and then add it to the extender. Doing so will give you unexpected internet range like never before.
