TP Link Extender Setup

The Manual Method


Step 1: For TP Link WiFi extender setup using the manual method, you need to connect it with your existing router using an Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Put the extender on power and wait for the LEDs on it to get stable.

Step 3: When you see that the LEDs on your TP Link device has become stable, turn on a desktop or laptop.

Step 4: After turning on your device, launch a web browser of your choice and enter http://tplinkrepeater.net.


Step 5: Press Enter and you will be taken to tplinkrepeater.net setup page.

Step 6: Provide the extender’s model/ serial number (if needed) and follow the on-screen instructions.


Upon following the on-screen instructions in exact given order, your TP Link WiFi extender will get configured successfully using the manual method.


Note: If you don’t want to go with the manual method to configure your TP Link WiFi extender, then go with the WPS method.

The WPS Method


Step 1: Locate the WPS button on your TP Link extender.

Step 2: Press it and wait for a few minutes.

Step 3: Locate the WPS button on your main router as well.

Step 4: Press the router’s WPS button.

Step 5: The WPS LED on your devices will start blinking. Wait till the get stable.

Step 2: Provide the extender’s default (unless changed) username and password.

Step 3: Access the tplinkrepeater.net setup page.


Note: We suggest you to back up your current extender’s Settings before performing TP Link repeater firmware update process. The reason being, the firmware update process might clear the settings on saved on your extender.


Step 4: Click on System Tools > Firmware Upgrade > Browse > Upgrade.

Your device will restart automatically after firmware update process has been finished.
