What is Thymosin Alpha 1?
Thymosin
alpha-1 (T1) is a peptide, or small protein, whose structure consists of 28
amino acids.
When talking about thymosin alpha 1, you might find it interesting to find out that it is derived from a protein known as Prothymosin Alpha. This kind of protein is known to be highly acidic. When it was first discovered it was thought about as being a thymic factor, but as time went by, it got referred to as a nuclear protein that is crucial in the cell reproduction process. But why is this relevant for the discussion about the peptide? It is because a fraction of Prothymosin Alpha was the first one to be fully synthesized. This 28 amino acid chain is responsible for the regeneration of the immune system.
Benefits
Thymosin Alpha-1 is being researched for the treatment of Hepatitis B and C and is also approved for inclusion with vaccines to stimulate the immune response in the treatment of other diseases.
It is also said to have a pleotropic effect. What does this mean? Well, it means that it is able to modulate the immune system’s reaction as well as assist with inflammation. It does this by working with T-cells and the natural maturation of the killer cells. Stimulation of cytokine production also occurs with the use of Thymosin. Add this to the fact that it can treat diseases like Lyme Disease, certain cancers, acute sepsis, and, as mentioned before, Hepatitis B and C and you have a winning peptide.
This peptide is also capable of improving the performance of certain immune and dendritic cells, advancing the Th1 immune response, as well as supporting Th1/Th2 balance and also supporting the maturation of T cells. Speaking of these cells, T1 can also lower T cell apoptosis, which is more commonly known as „programmed cellular death, as in promoting natural killer cell activity to fight infections and certain cancer cells. It helps with the reduction of some symptoms for acute and chronic infections as well.
Taking into consideration the current state of the world, some would be thrilled to find out that this seemingly magic little peptide also provides antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties, it increases the effectiveness of vaccines (adjuvant agent) and impedes the replication of viruses.
Administration and potential side effects
The
T 1 peptide can be administered via
subcutaneous injection or as a transdermal cream. It has been proved to be
extremely safe, and there have only been rare adverse reactions associated with
its administration so far, such as Erythema, joint pain similar to arthritis,
and/or skin rash. It is, however, still recommended to consult your physician
before starting a new peptide. If you are someone working in lab, you can find Thymosin Alpha 1 for Sale for research purposes.
