With the advancement of technology, it has become easier for users to manage their daily online task. Our life revolves around the internet! Not only we but anybody in this world can’t imagine their life without internet. In order to get the high-speed of the internet, there is a need of Netgear extender setup.

For beginners, Netgear extenders are one of the commonly used networking equipment that boost the existing range of the internet and lets you enjoy lag-free WiFi. No doubt that the routers are backbone of our home WiFi. But router alone can’t cover the dead zones or blind spots. The only solution to get internet in dead zones is to install a Netgear WiFi range extender. They amplify the WiFi signals coming out from your main router and then spread it in every nook and cranny of your house.

Moving on, let’s help you with Netgear extender setup process.

How to perform Netgear Extender Setup?

There are 2 methods to perform Netgear extender setup. Both of them are listed below:

Netgear Extender Setup via Manual Method

  1. Plug in your Netgear WiFi range extender into a working wall outlet.
  2. The power LED on your Netgear extender starts blinking.
  3. Connect your Netgear extender to your main router or access point using an Ethernet cable.
  4. Once done, connect your desktop, laptop or mobile device Netgear_ext.
  5. Post that, launch a web browser on your connected device.
  6. Enter mywifiext.net once you’re done. To prevent extender login issues it is recommended not to use the browser’s search bar.
  7. The New Extender Setup will display upon hitting the Enter key.
  8. On the displayed page, click on NEW EXTENDER SETUP button.
  9. Enter your extender admin credentials and click on Log In. If you have changed the default login credentials at the time of Netgear extender setup, use them instead.
  10. Select and answer any two security questions. These questions will be required to recover your Netgear extender login credentials (if you forget them).
  11. Click on Next.
  12. Your extender will search for the available and active WiFi networks.
  13. Click on Next when the search gets completed.
  14. Your extender will apply the settings.
  15. Keep clicking on all the positive responses until it asks you to click on Finish to complete the Netgear extender setup process.

Once you have setup Netgear extender manually, unplug it and place it midway between your main router and blind spots.

Now, let’s have a quick glance at the steps given below to setup Netgear extender using WPS method.

Netgear Extender Setup using WPS Method

WPS means WiFi Protected Setup. To set up your Netgear device, make sure that your extender and the router support the WPS feature.

  1. During the WPS process, make sure to provide your Netgear extender and your router continuous and uninterrupted power supply.
  2. Plug in your Netgear extender and the router in reach of each other.
  3. Next, locate the WPS button on your Netgear WiFi range extender and the router.
  4. Once found, push the WPS button on your Netgear extender first.
  5. Wait for some time. Meanwhile, find the WPS button on your main router as well.
  6. As soon as you found the WPS button on your main router, push it.
  7. That’s it! Your Netgear extender has been configured successfully using the WPS button. To check whether the WPS connection has been established or not, open a web browser, enter mywifiext in the address bar and hit the Enter key.

After hitting the Enter key, if you get redirected to the extender login page, then the Netgear extender setup process using the WPS button is successfully completed.
