What you must know about International Baccalaureate Diploma

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) is an international two-year international education programme mainly geared at high-school students from any country worldwide. This programme offers an internationally recognized diploma for higher learning entrance and is accepted by many reputed universities world wide.

If you want to pursue your studies at an accredited college or university, you must clear an exam known as the International Baccalaureate Examination (IBA). The IB is comprised of three different sections; Math, Science, and English. The IBT is conducted by the International Academy of Mathematics (IAOM), an international non-profit organization dedicated to assisting students aiming for a mathematics degree or equivalent.

The syllabus of the IB covers topics such as algebra, algebraic equations, algebraic formulae, determinants, numerical analysis, geometry, quadratic equations, algebraic functions, algebra proofs, algebraic principles, recurrence formulas, finite algebra, graphing calculators, metric calculator, and other branches of mathematics.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program prepares students for a set number of examinations for each section of the IB, known as branches. It can be a very challenging exam, especially for students who are yet to take up advanced mathematics or are already pursuing higher education. The student must undergo a series of preparatory stages to prepare adequately, including entrance examination, written examination, competency assessment, and competency review.

The competency review is an international examination given under the International Academy of Mathematics auspices, offering a fairly comprehensive test covering all the topics taught by the IB.

Participating universities and colleges offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in over 150 countries. In order to participate, students must have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies.

The institutions may also permit students to complete a second-year foundation course in addition to their Bachelor of Arts degree program. Subjects that students need to pass include algebra, physics, chemistry, and English. At least half of the students in a typical course will pass all the subjects in the first year. Of those who pass the first year, half will pass the second year foundation course, which offers greater depth in the subject matter and greater opportunity to specialize.

International students can participate in IB without completing the full set of credits required for university entry. The International Baccalaureate Diploma is offered by many participating universities and colleges in the United States. Students who complete the core requirements in the IBT program will receive an International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Some colleges and universities offer the diploma not through the IB but separate programmes. Students who qualify for eligibility in these respective programmes may complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma requirements without taking the IBT core requirements.

Once a student has completed the core requirements, they will be issued with an International Baccalaureate Dummy Exam. On this exam, they will need to demonstrate that they understand the concepts and content they studied, with detailed explanations. Upon completing the dummy examination, students will be mailed their diploma programme and their IB card. Students who have successfully completed the study group and have their diploma but do not yet have IBT credit can apply for IBT credit.

By completing a selection of courses offered by participating universities or colleges, you can fulfill part of your prerequisites for acceptance into the IB programme.

Becoming a qualified candidate for IBT does not automatically qualify you for university entry in the United States. To be eligible for IBT, you must have completed the eligibility criteria, including completion of a high school Leaving Certificate, as well as at least five years of full time study. If you are in a situation where you lack the academic discipline to achieve success in an academic institution, you should consider a placement through IBT instead.

International Business schools offer flexible, accelerated programme planning to help their pupils' progress through their degree at their own pace, allowing students to take courses that best suit their circumstances. Further information about the IB process can be obtained from your school-leaving agency or your college's admissions office.

Candidates may be accepted into an accelerated IB programme in a number of circumstances. Full-time candidates may be accepted on a full-time basis if they meet the core requirements; these include having a GED and completing at least one year of a postgraduate course at tertiary level or above in business, management or an arts discipline. Part-time candidates may also be eligible to start on the IB programme in their first year if they have completed a university course's foundation year in a relevant discipline.

Students who have completed an IB course but do not qualify for seats in an accelerated Baccalaureate Degree programme may still apply if they satisfy the general acceptance criteria and meet a minimum of one additional prerequisite subject, including familiarity with the principles of international business and accounting.

In addition, candidates who have already completed an international business course will be considered for admission into an accelerated Baccalaureate diploma if they demonstrate that they are in line with current IBT educational requirements.

Once you have completed an IBT course, your diploma is valid for two years. International Business students may re-apply for a fresh Baccalaureate Degree after two years, provided they maintain their grades. Those who are dissatisfied with their results may re-sit their core exam and submit their application for a fresh start. It is important to remember that students must maintain their grades at all times to retain their IBT diploma. Therefore, holding both a high score and excellent results throughout the qualification period are essential for long-term success.
